Secondary Research
Person(s) Responsible: Vidhi, Michelle, Elizabeth, and Kaylie
Due Date: 2025-09-24
Description/Example(s):
Research and Design Team explored 4 main topics: Demographics and Psychographics of people with Epilepsy, Competitors, Epilepsy as a medical condition, and gamification in health management (all with sources). Applied concepts to add, remove, or explore on the current site map. Major additions included separating users by who has epilepsy and who is a support to someone with epilepsy, gamification through badges and achievements earned via completing daily check-ins.

Jira, PM Set up, and Updated Timeline
Person(s) Responsible: Eli
Due Date: 2025-10-07
Description/Example(s):
Tasks and Subtasks set up (with corresponding names in status posts)
Major Epics ( development, UX research, branding + UI, project management, and deliverables for this term) are set up for Fall term
Updated timeline for project

Updating Packages and Dependencies in Repo
Person(s) Responsible: Shan
Due Date: 2025-10-08
Description/Example(s):
Shan updated current project to react 19 and react native 19, and all subsequent packages dependent on react 19. This is necessary to ensure the current state of the project is functional and ready to be modified

Typography + Icons
Person(s) Responsible: Michelle
Due Date: 2025-10-08
Description/Example(s):
Michelle explored fonts that were easy to read, keeping in mind the requirement for accessibility for this app. For the icons, we selected a cohesive round style and gathered both outlined and filled versions for flexibility. These icons include general ones like settings, profile, journal, etc and some more specific ones like badges and medication.
Typography for headings: Readex Pro & Body text: Poppins
Subject to change in desirability study

Existing Site Map
Person(s) Responsible: Vidhi and Eli
Due Date: 2025-10-08
Description/Example(s):
Mapped out all existing pages and features in the current app and recorded video of the local browser version walking through each feature. This will help us plan to modify the existing prototype instead of working from scratch

General Survey Creation -> Co-Design Recruitment Form
Person(s) Responsible: Kaylie and Elizabeth
Due Date: Extended to: 2025-10-15 from 2025-10-08
Description/Example(s):
Since our stakeholders have done research on the problems and challenges that people with epilepsy are dealing with, we decided to focus less on the problem-related survey questions, and more on those asking about people’s desired app features and their habits when using digital platforms
Reviewed with stakeholders on 10/8 and 10/9. IRB restrictions forced us to pivot. We will change to making a basic <10 question survey with optional volunteering for a co-design session. Audience can be 18+ with epilepsy or family / support to a person with epilepsy. These questions will determine users’ eligibility for the study, consent, general availability and gather high-level info about their experience with epilepsy management.
Open Tasks
Illustrative Styles + Avatar
Person(s) Responsible: Vidhi
Due Date: Extended to: ON HOLD (/2025-10-31) from 2025-10-08
Description/Example(s):
Vidhi explored different illustrative styles using our purple, magenta, orange color palette. The avatar will serve as a basis of UI design, initial tutorial teacher. and a character in gamification features (ex. possible daily check in emotions)
Became ON HOLD, we will conduct a desirability study first before going forward with specific branding styles, logos, etc. Some of these elements will be used in the desirability study

Fixing + Identifying Current Bugs
Person(s) Responsible: Danielle + Thomas
Due Date: 2025-10-21
Description/Example(s):
Thomas will identify any other bugs in detail including all saving issues with medications and seizure logs
Most bugs deal with database errors (not storing new medication)
Integrate OpenFDA into medication management feature
Person(s) Responsible: Thomas
Due Date: 2025-10-21
Description/Example(s):
Some dev-related tasks that can be started have been identified early on, including autocomplete for long medication names when adding a new medication with the med management featue. Thomas connected a JSON file with med names (generic and brand) and will change it over to the FDA's API since the JSON file is too large to include in a repo. Video is local vers working. Next step integrating the API into the current prototype in add medication feature.
Task Flow Analysis
Person(s) Responsible: Vidhi + Elizabeth
Due Date: 2025-10-17
Description/Example(s):
Vidhi will be completing a task flow analysis of the most popular epilepsy management app competitor, Epsy. And cross reference / add in accessibility issues and notes with it
Elizabeth will be completing a task flow analysis of the current prototype for the tasks of: creating a community post, adding a medication, and logging a seizure or trigger
These will be used to identify frustrations, points of friction and opportunities
New Tasks
Location Permissions and weather API
Person(s) Responsible: Shan + Thomas
Due Date: 2025-10-21
Description/Example(s):
Shan will explore using location (if user permits) with a weather API to log weather condition at the time and date of a reported seizure or trigger automatically
Pop-up message for users to allow location tracking and a resulting test console log showing location and weather api connection.
Desirability Study
Person(s) Responsible: Kaylie + Michelle
Due Date: 2025-10-20
Description/Example(s):
Ideally to get 15-20 participants to inform choices on branding, color palette, illustrative styles, ideal emotional state from people with epilepsy and their support system
Create profile additions: add birthday and add user type
Person(s) Responsible: Danielle
Due Date: 2025-10-23
Description/Example(s):
Add questions on age and relation to epilepsy (I have epilepsy vs. I am supporting someone with epilepsy). And birth to identify users 13-17 and 18+ so better restrictions can be in place for under 18 year olds. Different user types will dictate certain features in relation to community, seizure/trigger logging, and medication management
