Completed Tasks

Onboarding Initial Flow

Person(s) Responsible: Kaylie + Elizabeth + Eli

Due Date: 2025-11-11

Description/Example(s):

  • Link to Figma

  • Went from 4 buttons in onboarding (PLWE, supporter, caregiver, expert) to 3 (PLWE, supporter (splits to 2), and expert). Focused on the experience of the PLWE, supporter and caregivers, as expert may have to be verified by the internal team / moderator of the app.

  • Seizures and Triggers are a multi select, seizures come with description as many people aren’t aware of the actual term/official of their seizure(s), but would be more likely to identify it by description. These fields are optional.

Color Scheme

Person(s) Responsible: Michelle

Due Date: 2025-10-31

Description/Example(s):

  • Light Mode Link & Dark Mode Link

  • For the dark mode, we pushed for a purple hue rather than the charcoal color to make the contrast a bit easier on the eyes. background color, input box color & outline all have a bit of our purple pushed into them

Calendar Input Fix

Person(s) Responsible: Shan

Due Date: 2025-11-06

Description/Example(s):

  • Link

  • Having a calendar input for event logging so users can easily log past seizures or auras. Will be better for users who remember they had a seizure “Last Tuesday”, but not necessarily the exact date

Security Recommendations for encrypting PHI

Person(s) Responsible: Shan

Due Date: 2025-11-03

Description/Example(s):

  • Link

  • For the stakeholders to follow these instructions for encryption if they’d like to eventually have it on the App Store and public. Using the database to store the info (emails, passwords, names, ages, etc.) that’ll be encrypted _ decrypted via encryption key in the .env file.

Update to Expo 54

Person(s) Responsible: Shan

Due Date: 2025-11-03

Description/Example(s):

  • Link

  • Updating expo go (prototyping preview and testing tool) version to most current and compatible with auto-updated phone version. Important for functionality and testing purposes.

iOS Notifications Documentation

Person(s) Responsible: Thomas

Due Date: 2025-11-11

Description/Example(s):

  • Link

  • Writing up documentation for iOS notifications to be applied later when making reminders for medication, and allowing for one or multiple buttons within the notifications (like remind me later or taken)

User Personas

Person(s) Responsible: Vidhi

Due Date: 2025-11-06

Description/Example(s):

  • Link to Figma

  • 4 main users identified: the person living with epilepsy. Important distinction between a person who acts as the primary caregiver to a dependent and logs all their events, seizures, and meds for them vs. a supporter to an independent adult who would like to remind their loved one to take their meds on time. Also the importance of identifying individuals who can be both. So a PLWE who’d like to remind a friend with Epilepsy to take their meds so we’ll build out the reminder feature for all who want to add a user to support.

Co-Design Script

Person(s) Responsible: Kaylie

Due Date: 2025-11-12

Description/Example(s):

  • Link to Doc

  • Co-design script has been finalized and approved by stakeholders. Now that the co-design script is complete, our stakeholders have given us the go-ahead to send out the recruitment form. An IRB amendment has also been submitted to include the co-design under the PhD research, but if it's not approved in time, we were still given permission to do the co-design outside of the IRB.

Open Tasks

Mascot

Person(s) Responsible: Michelle

Due Date: 2025-11-14

Description/Example(s):

  • Link

  • the mascot will be incorporated into different parts of the app like default profile picture, mood logging within daily checkin and potential tool tips tutorial. Likely going towards octopus concept, does not bring up negative associations like the brain does, and doesn’t directly draw from The International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE)’s Campi the Seahorse.

  • Reasons for octopus:

    • Complex Neural System: Octopuses have a complex nervous system, similar to the complex and sometimes chaotic neural activity in the brain during a seizure.

    • Adaptability and Regeneration: The octopus is also a symbol of flexibility, adaptability, and regeneration (it can regrow lost limbs). These qualities can serve as an inspirational totem, representing resilience and the ability to adapt to life's challenges and bounce back from setbacks, which is a key part of managing epilepsy.

    • Camouflage : epilepsy is commonly known as an invisible disability

EpiConnect Logo Creation

Person(s) Responsible: Michelle

Due Date: 2025-11-17

Description/Example(s):

  • Link to Figma

  • We are exploring simple logos for EpiConnect. Possible ideas include connection lines to reference community, abstract “e” or “c” formed by our possible octopus mascot’s arm, the letters “EC”, etc.

4 logo concepts

Profile User Types

Person(s) Responsible: Danielle

Due Date: 2025-11-17

Description/Example(s):

  • Dev-related task to have the backend and front end be synced with each other on the user type when they sign up or login

Sketches -> Wireframes

Person(s) Responsible: Vidhi + Elizabeth

Due Date: 2025-11-17

Description/Example(s):

  • Link to Figma

  • Exploring insight page -

    • Calendar view with toggles showing triggers (indicated by daily checkins) and seizure and aura events

    • Also data visualization like charts to show how often they’ve been missing/ taking their medication

  • Exploring Homepage -

    • Exploring the idea of widget style features from most important (med reminders), reminder to do daily checkin, and if they are choosing to support another PLWE then the ability to nudge them to take their medication,

Co-Design Recruitment

Person(s) Responsible: Kaylie + Vidhi

Due Date: 2025-11-19

Description/Example(s):

  • Link to recruitment form

  • Co-design recruitment form is complete, now distributing it users who gave their email and consented to be contacted about future study opportunities (from the desirability survey). Ideally want to get 3-5 people confirmed in scheduling.

New Tasks

Error Page

Person(s) Responsible: Shan + Thomas

Due Date: 2025-11-16

Description/Example(s):

  • When users encounter an error on any page, one consistent error page can appear with a button back to home or back. Currently, the error is not helpful in returning to a functional page, and breaks the flow.

Daily Checkin (functionality)

Person(s) Responsible: Danielle

Due Date: 2025-11-24

Description/Example(s):

  • This will replace trigger logging. Functionally, dev team will work on getting the answers be stored associated with the user in the database and display on other pages like insights page.

Medication Reminder (functionality)

Person(s) Responsible: Shan

Due Date: 2025-11-24

Description/Example(s):

  • Getting med information to pull from the med page and be displayed as a widget on the Home Screen. Not only reminding them to take it when it’s been taken so accidental double dosages can be avoided (common w/ PLWE who have memory issues)

Create Stylesheets

Person(s) Responsible: Thomas

Due Date: 2025-11-21

Description/Example(s):

  • Clean up the inline css and create variables

  • Currently the prototype’s styling was done via inline styling. For better organization and easier ability to change it later, variables will be made that will contain “mainBackground” or H1 font so they can be modified across the prototype easier.
